Summit took the opening kickoff and drove 73 yards in 9 plays. The drive was highlighted by the running of Della Piazza and Daryl Toney and receptions by Brad Dolny, Dwight Reid & Toney. The 2nd drive started at the Summit 30 and ended 5 plays later when Dwight Reid and Rob Schroeder connected on a 48 yard pass. The next score came on Summit's next possession. It was highlighted by a great 46 yard run by Arthur Copperthite that moved the ball to the Parsippany 1. Sadly, Copperthite was seriously injured on the play and had to be helped off the field. He spent the rest of the game on the bench cheering on his team mates, having turned down an offer to be taken for medical tests.
The final scoring drive of the1st half began when Parsippany fumbled on their 43 yard line. After a short run, Todd Kaiser hauled in a 17 yard pass and Della Piazza took it the remaining 23 yards on a screen pass. Summit started the 2nd half were they left off as they drove 70 yards in 12 plays, leaving the ball 4th and goal at the1 yard line. But a penalty nullified a TD and drive ended without a score. The 5th TD came with Scott O'Sullivan at the helm. Summit took over on the Parsippany 28 after a weak punt. Runs by Della Piazza, Pierce Talbot and O'Sullivan picked up a 1st down at the 15 yard line. Talbot moved the ball to the 7 and Della Piazza took it in for a TD.
Dwight Reid gave Parsippany's defenders a tough time on punt returns. His speed allowed him to easily out run many would be tacklers. His best return came when he took a punt on the Summit 40 and ran it back 50 yards to the Parsippany 10 yard line. Unfortunately it was nullified by a holding call far away from the action.
