In the opening game of the season Morris Hills had 9 varsity players but tonight they were down to only 6 players. One had quit and 2 were suspended. They had their 5 regular starters but only 1 player on the bench. The game began in an unusual way. During warm up Summit was assigned a technical foul for hanging on the rim so Morris Hills began by making 2 free throws and taking the ball out of bounds. A quick field goal put Summit behind 4-0. When they scored a 3 pointer to make the score 7-2 some fans were wondering what was going on. However, Summit's searing defensive pressure took its toll and the Hilltoppers outscored their opponents 32 to 7 in the rest of the half. The outcome was clear. The second half provided an opportunity for the entire bench to see action. As can be seen from the box score the points were widely distributed over many players. Dwayne Reid led all scorers with 15 points and Chris Dean pulled down 7 rebounds. Summit's poor free throw shooting continued as they hit only 7 of 19 attempts from the foul stripe
