Summit battled a very athletic Rahway team to a standoff until about 2 minutes left in the half. Six Rahway points in ther last minutes gave them a 7 point lead at the interminssion. Unfortunately for Summit the scoring table made an error in the 3rd quarter. They charged a #20 (Mike Dugan) Foul to #21 (Dwayne Reid). As a result, mid-way through the 3rd quarter when Reid picked up his 4th foul it was recorded as his 5th. No amount of lobbying by Coach Maxwell could change it and Dwayne Reid was out of the game. Shortly thereafter Wellington Smith picked up his 4th foul and had to sit. Without those key players Rahway's quickness and height took charge and Summit fell behind by 17 points at the end of the 3rd quarter, and it was all over.
Summit had a bad shooting night hitting only 17 of 52 shots. Unlike the Mt. Olive game Summit managed only one 3-pointer out of about 15 trys. Smith led Summit with 14 points and 7 rebopunds.
Summit will meet Westfield in the 1st round of the consolation bracket on Monday at 6PM.
