This was a seesaw game and the outcome seemed to depend on who made the fewest errors. Summit grabbed a 3-0 lead in the 1st inning as the result of singles by Zach Barber, Jake Huck and Andrew Furman then topped off by Sam Rose's double. Chatham came back with 4 unearned runs in the 2nd and the added 3 more (1 unearned) in the 3rd to lead 7-3.

Summit closed the gap to 7-5 in the bottom of the 3rd with 2 unearned runs and regained the lead (9-7) with 4 more runs in the bottom (2 unearned). The scoring in the 3rd inning resulted when Tim Fields and Jake Huck got on base via errors and Sam Rose brought them home with a double. The 4th inning began with a walk to Barber followed by an RBI single by Jon Busciano. Tim Fields was safe at first on an error and Jake Huck drove in Busciano with a sacrifice fly. After walks to Furman and Rose, Tim Fields and Furman scored on a error on a Matt Fields ground ball.

Both Chatham and Summit scored 3 runs in the 5th to leave the score at 12-10. In each case one of the runs was unearned. Summit's first run resulted from singles by Barber and Busciano followed by an error on Tim Fields' ground ball. Busciano and Tim Fields scored on Matt Fields' Single. After the 5th inning the Summit bats fell silent, failing to get a hit in the final 4 innings. Meanwhile, Chatham scored another unearned run in the 6th and tied the game in the 7th inning. They went on to score 2 more runs in the top of the 9th to gain the victory.
