Jon Buscaino pitched a terrific game through the first 4 innings. He gave up only 2 hits through those 4 innings. However, Summit's defense failed to give him support as they coughed up 5 errors over the four innings. Entering the bottom of the 5th inning the score was tied 3-3, with 2 of Chatham's runs being unearned. Chatham opened the the inning with a triple but Buscaino struck out the next batter. A scratch single and a walk loaded the bases. After another strike out Buscaino was close to getting out of trouble without a run scoring. The Summit fans were on the edge of their seats with each pitch. But with his pitch count approaching 100 it was not to be. Two walks forced in 2 runs and a single added 2 more before he got the third strike out.

With other pitchers warming up it was a surprise that Buscaino came out to start the 6th inning. The first batter walked, the next singled and with one out Chatham hit a home run to put the game out of reach at 11-3. Tim Fields came on in relief and did a good job but it was too late.

Summit rallied for 3 runs in the 6th. It might have been more but Summit brought 5 batters to the plate with the bases loaded and failed to get the hit that might have broken the game open. Two of the 5 batter were, however, walked to force in runs.
