Let's start with the good news. Sophomore Sam Potesky was brought up from the JVs to start against a quality Hanover Park team. He demonstrated a lot of potential. Through the first 5 innings he gave up only 2 earned runs and walked only 2 batters.
As the pitch count got close to 100 he began to tire. After giving up a hit and 3 walks Jake Huck came on in relief. Hanover Park had their hitting caps on and, combined with 3 Summit errors, delivered 8 runners across the plate.
Summit lone run came in the 4th inning when Andrew Furman and Sam Rose singled. Furman scored on an infield ground ball.
