For 6 innings this was a close game. Tim Fields pitched 6 fine innings allowing only 2 earned runs and 5 hits. Entering the 7th inning the score was 4-2 and Mendham was still within reach. As has been true so many times this year the late innings, in this case the 7th, put the game out of reach. Tim Fields pitch count hit 95 in the 6th inning and Summit hasn't had much luck after the pitch count gets near 100. A walk, home run and 2 singles resulted in 3 Mendham runs with only one out. Dave Mell came in to relieve Fields. He stuck out the next batter for the 2nd out, but 2 more singles drove in 2 runs before Andrew Furman gunned down a runner trying to steal 2nd, for the final out.

Summit threatened in the bottom of the 7th when Zach Barber singled to start the inning. A single by Tim Fields and a walk to Furman loaded the bases with only one out. Mendham pulled off a double play to end the uprising.
