Summit lost in the first round of the krug Tournament in Millburn. After a scoreless 1st inning, Millburn picked up 2 runs on a double and 2 singles. They added 3rd run in the 3rd inning with 2 singles and a sacrifice fly. Summit closed the gap in the top of the 4th inning as Tim Fields singled and Jake Huck doubled. Unfortunately, Millburn added 5 more runs in the bottom of the 4th. However, only 2 of the runs were earned
Summit threatened in the 5th when Woody Sherman got a two out single and Zach Barber singled to move Sherman into scoring position. However, a grounder to the 3rd baseman ended the inning.
Summit started another two out rally in the 6th inning. Sam Rose singled and Andrew Furman doubled to put runners on 2nd and 3rd. Anthony Della Donne walked to load the bases. Matt Fields worked a walk to drive in 1 run and leave the bases loaded. The Millburn shortstop mishandled a grounder by Sherman, a run scored, and still the bases were loaded. Summit hopes for a big inning began to rise. Barber hit a sharp shot at the Shortstop, but this time he handled it cleanly and the inning was over.
Summit will play Madison, who lost to GL, on Sunday 4/10 at 12:30PM.
