After grabbing a 14 point lead early in the 2nd quarter on a 60 yard run by Daryl Toney and a 39 yard pass from Jacob Huck to Todd Kaiser, Summit appeared to let things slip away as Hanover Park scored 21 points in the final 7 minutes of the 1st half. The situation grew even more bleak when Hanover Park scored on a 38 yard pass early in the 3rd quarter. On Summit's 3rd possession of the 2nd half Summit got down to business and drove 76 yards in 9 plays that ended with Kaiser catching a 15 yard pass from Huck to make the score 27-21. After an incomplete pass, Huck ran for 16 yards and a first down. A pass to Kaiser made it 2nd and inches at mid-field. Huck snuck for a 1st down and then connected with Kaiser again for 14 yards. Toney gained 6 yards and a 15 yard pass to Kaiser made it 1st and 10 on the HP 14 yard line. Toney moved it to the 10, but a penalty put the ball back to the 15. On the next play Huck hit Kaiser for the TD.

On the kickoff an errant kick acted like an on-side kick and Summit recovered the ball the Hanover Park 34 yard line. Huck carried the ball 22 yards to the 12. After a loss on a yard, Huck went 12 yards to a 1st down at the 1 yard line. On the next play Huck scored on a QB sneak. With the score now tied 27 all Will Grueztmacher kicked the last of his 4 successful PATs and Summit had the lead for good.

In the first half Hanover Park had 216 yards of total offense and seemed to be in command of the game. However, the Summit defense rose to the occasion and held Hanover Park to only 54 yard in the final 24 minutes.
