While Summit's offense performed well, it was really the defense that was the star of the evening. For example, it was 10 minutes and 15 seconds into the game before Cliffside Park scored their 1st field goal. At the end of the 1st half Cliffside Park had registered only 2 FGs. At the half Summit led 27-8 and five Summit players had contributed to the scoring with Wellington Smith leading the way with 9 points.

The 3rd quarter was Cliffside Park's best as they managed 11 points. However balanced scoring by five Summit players allowed Summit to increase its margin to 23 points. In the 4th quarter Smith went on a spree adding 9 points to reach his game high 25 points before he left the game in favor of the Summit bench. Smith also led the defense with 7 rebounds. He now needs only 2 more rebounds to break the season rebound record set by Jeff Harlaub 39 years ago.

Summit will meet Hillside on Monday 3/7 at Roselle Catholic HS for the Sectional Championship.
