Summit's exceptional season came to an unhappy end at the hands of Haddonfield, the top ranked public high school basketball team in New Jersey. Haddonfield came in a big favorite. Summit needed an almost perfect game to prevail. Instead Haddonfield had a fine game and Summit could never quite get things on track. While a closing season loss is always a downer, the Summit fans are still savoring the wonderful basketball they have seen this season and the inspirational run of victories they enjoyed during the State Tournament. To make it all the way to the Group 2 Finals is something Summit will never forget.
Wellington Smith had 20 points to lead Summit's scoring. In the process ended his Summit Career with 1224 points. He also established a new record for most rebounds in a season with 314, obliterating the old record of 284 set in 1965 by Jeff Hartlaub.
