Summit had a fabulous 1st quarter as they drained five 3-point shots (3 by Mike Dugan, and one each by Wellington Smith and James Johnson) on their way to a 23-8 lead. Five more treys in the second quarter (3 by Maurice Torres and 1 each by Dugan and Travis Marchell) tied the record for the most 3-point field goals in a game this year. The long range shooting cooled in the 2nd half, hitting only one.
After the dramatic 1st quarter, Hanover Park played Summit almost even for the final 3 quarters.
Summit certainly didn't get any help from the refs as they called Summit for 19 infractions while finding only 7 by Hanover Park. As a result, Hanover Park scored 22 points from the foul line to Summit's 5.
Wellington Smith scored 22 points to exceed the 1097 points scored by Dwayne Reid during his career. Torres had a big night with 20 points for a personal best. The final regular season game is against Mendham on Saturday (2/26) at 230PM at Summit.
