Summit opened the season by overwhelming Morris Hills. Wellington Smith gave notice that he will be a powerful force as he dominated the game on both offense and defense. Summit jumped to a quick 10-2 lead and closed the 1st quarter with a 20-6 advantage. It was more of the same in the 2nd quarter as the lead grew to 40-13.
Summit went deep into the bench in the second half but the margin continued to grow. Morris Hills failed to score more than 8 points in any quarter. Smith led with 23 points and 15 rebounds. James Johnson and Maurice Torres also scored in double digits with 12 and 11 points respectively.
The Weequahic game on Monday will be played at 4PM at Newark Vocational HS (not the usual Carver Middle School).
