Summit was determined not to repeat the cliffhanger that took place in their first meeting at Parsippany Hills. A very aggressive defense held Parsippany Hills to only 14 1st half points while scoring 31 points, led by Maurice Torres (12 points) and Wellington Smith (8 points).
Mid-way through the 3rd quarter Smith drained a free throw to score his 1000th career point. The fans went wild and the game was momentarily stopped as the school presented Wellington with a plaque. Smith would go on to score a total of 20 points. Summit built the lead to 21 points (52-31) by the end of the 3rd quarter. With a big lead Summit was able to get good playing time from its bench. Torres finished strong with16 points.
Smith's next milestone is the 1097 point career scoring record of Dwayne Reid. Smith needs 88 points to tie Reid.
