The Lady Hilltoppers put out another outstanding effort last night and suffered another heartbreaking loss in their last home game of the season. The seniors started the game and were the first subs into the game in honor of their hard work and effort during the season. The team rallied around them and they held their own against the starting lineup of Hanover Park, down only 5-0 when Summit's starting lineup got onto the court with 4 minutes left in the 1st quarter.
Summit began scoring immediately and actually outscored HP 5-4 the rest of the quarter. The 2nd quarter saw a back and forth matchup with HP outscoring Summit by 7-6 in the quarter.
Down 16-11 entering the 3rd, Summit came out with a vengeance and outscored HP 16-10 in the quarter, led by Danielle Scott who scored 10 of her total 14 points in the quarter. The quarter was capped by a buzzer beating 3 pointer by Jess Novo that got the crowd into a frenzy.
Unfortunately for Summit, the turnover bug hit them again late in the 4th quarter and the Hilltoppers just could not recuperate from those wasted opportunities as HP outscored the Hilltoppers 13-9 in the quarter for the win. Senior Captain Allison Cahott single-handedly kept the Hilltoppers in the game in the 4th quarter scoring 8 of her 10 points in the quarter and 8 of Summit's total 9 points for the quarter. Danielle Scott led the team with 14 and also led the team with 10 rebounds, her 13th double-double of the season out of 16 games.
