Summit suffered its 2nd loss of the season at the hands of Irvington in the first round of the Millburn Holiday Tournament. Irvington led wire to wire, capitalizing on numerous miscues by Summit. Although Irvington jumped to an early 18-3 lead, Summit managed to climb back into ito late in the 1st quarter ending on a 7-4 run to cut the lead to 12. The lead remained roughly the same throughout the 2nd quarter until the 2:30 mark when 4 consecutive turnovers by Summit led to a quick 8 points by Irvington to push the lead to 20 (35-15). Although the second half produced a steadier performance by the Hilltoppers, the game was decided by half-time. The final score was 66-36.
Renee Freeden scored 10 of her team high 14 points in the 2nd half and Danielle Scott had yet another double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. This was Danielle's 3rd double - double of the season. (reported by Coach Martins)
