Chatham took revenge for their shut out loss to Summit in their first meeting. Chatham gave notice in the first inning when, with one out, they connected for a single and back-to-back home runs to take a 3-0 lead. The next time they came up they scored 4 more runs off 4 hits, 2 walks and 2 Summit errors. Going to the bottom of the 2nd Summit was already down 7-0.

Summit got on the scoreboard when Andrew Furman slammed a solo home run. Kevin lackaye got on via an error and was eventually driven in by Mark Shehata's single. After a scoreless 3rd inning Chatham piled on 4 more runs as a result of 4 hits, a walk and a fielder's choice that didn't result in an out. Summit closed the gap a bit in the bottom of the 4th. With one out, Lackaye doubled and Dan Weber singled. Shehata hit into a fielder's choice. Eventually both Lackaye and Shehata scored as the result of 2 wild pitches and a throwing error by the catcher. But Summit was still down 11 4.

Chatham added its final run on a walk, an error and a fielder's choice. Summit came to bat in the 7th needing 8 runs to prolong the game. Shehata singled to start the inning. Tim Donnally got on an error and Bernie Grishman singled to drive in Shehata. After one out Eric Della Piazza singled to score Donnally and put runners at 1st and 3rd. The Summit fans were beginning to get excited. Unfortunately, Della Piazza was thrown out trying to steal 2nd and the air went out of the balloon. A ground out ended the game.
