Matt Krell had a very big game. He came on in relief in the 2nd inning with no outs and behind 4-1. He proceeded to pitch 6 scoreless innings, scattering 6 hits and giving up only 2 walks. To top it off he led off the bottom of the 6th with a double to center field that started a huge 5 run rally. In the process he scored the tieing run.
Dover took a 3-0 lead in the 1st via 3 walks, a double and 1 Summit error. Summit answered with a run in the bottom of the 1st. Bernie Grishman was hit by a pitch, Jon Boscaino got on via an error and Sam Rose drove in Grishman with a single. Dover made the score 4-1 when the first batter in the 2nd inning drove a home run over the left field fence. It was at this point that Krell took the mound.
Summit had the chance for a big 3rd inning when four consecutive singles by Buscaino, Eric Della Piazza, Rose and Andrew Furman resulted in 2 runs with only one out. With 2 runners on base Kevin Lackaye blasted a towering hit to left that looked like a sure home run. The Dover left fielder made a dramatic catch at the fence to save 3 runs. The game remain 4-3 until the bottom of the 6th inning.
In the 6th Krell got things started with a crucial double. Dan Weber singled and Krell scored the tieing run when Grishman got on base via an error. Buscaino walked and a single by Della Piazza scored Weber. Buscaino, who was now on third, scored on a wild pitch and Summit was on top 7-4. After Furman walked, Lackaye singled to drive in Della Piazza for Summit's final run. In the top of the 7th Dover's leadoff hitter singled, but Krell retired the next 3 batter for a great come from behind win.
