You only need to look at the score to know that it wasn't a good day for Summit baseball. Both teams registered 7 hits, but Summit pitchers put 16 GL runners on base via walks and hit batsmen over 4 innings. GL only put one runner over 5 innings and that batter was hit by the pitcher.
Sadly, 15 of GL's runs were scored by those runners that had been given a free ride. In what may be a record of some kind, GL managed to score 6 runs in the 3rd inning without getting hit.
Kevin Lackaye and Sam Rose led Summit's offense, each going 2 for 2 with a single and a double. Sam Zerfoss had a 2 RBI single
Summit scoring: 2nd inning - Back-to-back doubles by Lackaye and Rose scored 1 run. 4th inning - Consecutive singles by Andrew Furman, Lackaye and Rose scored Furman. After Justin Shaw was hit by the pitcher to load the bases, a single by Zerfoss drove in Lackaye and Rose.
