Hit batters: Furman(1)
Tim Donnallly was the starter and pitched 4 1/3 good innings. Over that stretch he gave up only 4 hits and 3 runs, all of them unearned. The 3 runs came in the third inning when the defense stumbled and gave up 4 errors. Going into the 5th inning Donnally struck out the first batter, but then wasn't able to find the plate. He walked the next 3 batters on 13 pitches to load the bases. Matt Krell came in to relieve Donnally. However, 2 singles (the only hits of the inning) allowed 4 runs to score, 3 of which were charged to Donnally. Krell finished the last two innings giving up one more run in the 7th on 2 walks and a single.

Summit had two chances to score. In the 2nd inning back-to-back singles by Kevin Lackaye and Sam Rose put Hilltoppers on 1st and 3rd with one out. A fly ball to right might have produced a run, but a late tag up and a hesitation by the runner allowed the right fielder to throw the runner out at home. In the bottom of the 7th Singles by Andrew Furman and Lackaye put runners on 2nd and 3rd with one out. Bernie Grishman drilled a shot down the 1st base line but the 1st baseman made a great leaping grab to stop 2 runs from scoring.
