Summit executed a play that certainly hasn''t been seen in the last 15 years, maybe even longer. In the 1st inning with Roselle Catholic runners on 1st and 2nd with no outs, Roselle Catholic's Nolan lined a shot in the gap. Jon Buscaino grabbed it on the fly for the out, stepped on 2nd catching the runner off base for the 2nd out and threw to 1st for the 3rd out. A TRIPLE PLAY!!

Kevin Lackaye started and pitched the first three innings. While exhibiting a little less control than usual (4 walks and 2 hit batsmen) he allowed only 1 hit and 1 earned run. This against the top ranked team in Union County.

Jon Buscaino came on in relief in the 4th inning, but ran into trouble and was relieved by Sam Zerfoss who was in turn relieved by Eric Della Piazza. By the time the dust settled it was the worst inning of the season, 12 runs on 11 hits and 2 errors.

Summit threatened twice. With 2 outs, Summit loaded the bases in the 3rd inning on a walk to Tim Donnally, a single by Bernie Grishman and walk to Buscaino. But nothing came of it. Summit threatened again in the 4th. Lackaye and Donnally had back-to-back singles after two outs, again nothing came of it.
