Things looked good for Summit when they forced Parsippany to punt from their 14 yard line on the 4th play of the game. The punt was blocked and Summit had the ball on the 4 yard line. On the next play Will Gruetzmacher scored and then kicked the extra point. Summit was on top 7-0. However, Parsippany showed that it was going to be a tough day. They took the kickoff on their 31 yard line and drove to Summit's 6 yard line, where they tried a 23 yard field goal on 4th down that went wide. After a Summit drive stalled on the opponent's 27 yard line Parsippany launched their own scoring drive. Two personal foul penalties against Summit helped Parsippany with a gift of 30 yards of the 73 yard drive. They missed the extra point and Summit went into the locker room leading 7-6.
Summit took the 2nd half kick off and moved to the Parsippany 28 before a holding penalty forced a punt from the 44 yard line. Parsippany began the winning drive from their 17 yard line. Eleven plays later they were on Summit's 19. Parsippany busted a touchdown run, but before the runner crossed the goal he fumbled the ball. For a moment the ball was loose in the end zone with both Hilltoppers and Red hawks in position to recover. Sadly, Parsippany came up with the ball.
On the next possession Summit had a big chance when Edgar Ozols burst through the line on a QB keeper and raced 57 yards to the Parsippany's 15. In making the tackle the Parsippany safety came from behind and knocked the ball loose. It was recovered by Parsippany and Summit never threatened again.
