Summit grabbed an early 6 point lead in the 1st quarter but New Providence roared back and ended ahead by 3 points. James Johnson found the range in the 2nd quarter and powered Summit to a 15 point quarter and a lead of 26-22.

Summit began to pull away in the 3rd quarter behind balanced scoring by 5 players, with Taylor Simpson contributing 6 points. As a result, Summit carried a 10 point advantage into the final quarter. Eight points by Johnson and a trey by Travis Marchell gave Summit a 19 point lead mid-way into the 4th quarter. Both benches eventually were emptied and New Providence reduced the lead a bit before the horn sounded.

Johnson had a big game with 24 points. Summit advanced in the Union County Tournament and will play Linden (the 2nd seed) on Wednesday 2/15. Coach Maxwell indicated the Mendham game, set for Tuesday, will be postponed.
