In a game that wasn’t as easy as the final score indicates, the Summit Varsity Lady Hilltoppers defeated a game Dover team 41-20. A good start by Summit with points by Nicki Nelson and Danielle Scott was negated by Dover’s quick 7 points ending the first quarter 7-7. Summit came out in the second quarter pressing all over the court, and just as in their previous game, caused numerous turnovers that they converted into points. Steals by Katelyn Allocco and Jamie Osmulski were turned into easy buckets for Renee Freeden, who finished with a game high 10 points, and Melissa Scott and Megan Osmulski also contributed in the quarter. A great shot at the buzzer by Jenna Wilson made the score 21-8 at half. Another good quarter of pressing defense by Alethia Martinez and Lauren Magness created turnovers that increased the lead to 29-11 at the end of the third quarter and gave Coach a chance to rest his starters and use his bench. The fourth quarter was wide open as expected, with some good plays by Dana Kwitnicki and Jess Tauber on offense and Alex Reid and Danielle Allocco on defense helping to widen the lead to 21 at the end. A late burst by Jamie Osmulski, who had a terrific all around game, finished the scoring,


JV Result

Won 42-10 The JV Lady Hilltoppers scored a 42-10 victory against an overmatched Dover squad in Summit. The Lady Hilltoppers constant pressure resulted in 13 steals and numerous scoring opportunities. Deanna Nelson, with 3 steals, 3 assists and 3 boards, Colleen Laughlin, with 8 points, 3 assists, 3 rebounds and 3 steals, and Alex Reid, with 6 points, 4 steals and 3 assists, all had solid all around games.. The story of the game was the inside domination of Summit’s frontcourt of Abby Mell, Candy Marchell, and Shannon Murphy. Murphy and Marchell each had double-doubles, with Murphy scoring 10 points and snaring 10 rebounds, and Marchell leading the team with 13 pints and 11 boards. Mell had an all around strong game, scoring, rebounding and assisting in an impressive performance. Danielle Allocco and Jenna Wilson had no trouble breaking Dover’s pressure and igniting the Summit offense, and the defense held Dover to the lowest point total of the year.
