Summit kept it close for the 1st quarter but had a shooting drought over the next 3 quarters. Summit had lots of scoring opportunities but there seemed to be a lid over the hoop. In fact, Summit managed only 5 FGs over the final 24 minutes. The situation wasn't helped by a bad night at the foul line. Summit only sank 7 of their 18 attempts from the foul line.

On a positive note, Summit's defense held Mendham to 45 points, a far cry from the 78 they scored in their first meeting.

Certainly Summit was at a disadvantage playing without Danielle Scott, their leading scorer and rebounder. Jamie Osmulski and Rene Freeden led Summit with 8 and 6 points respectively.

JV Game

Won 56-28 Bouncing back from the Chatham game, the JV Lady Hilltoppers played a fired up Mendham team at pack the house night in summit. A great first quarter of basketball from both teams saw Mendham take a 14-12 lead, and it looked like it was going to be a tight game. But the JV, as they have all season, clamped down on defense, and the game took a much different tone. This time it was the 2-3 zone that worked against Mendham, and limited them to 14 points the rest of the game. The scoring of Danielle Allocco and Colleen Laughlin was more than enough to defeat Mendham, as Allocco had 16 points, 4 assists and 4 steals, and Laughlin had 17 points and 3 assists. Nice inside work by Candy Marchell, who finished with a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds, Shannon Murphy and Abby Mell, kept Mendham from catching up. Deanna Nelson and Alex Reid played strong defense to also keep Mendham off the board.
