The Summit Varsity Lady Hilltoppers fought hard to the end but lost to a very hot shooting New Providence squad 32-41. The backcourt of New Providence hit almost all their shots, many of them 3 pointers, and that turned out to be the margin of victory. Summit was cold from the outside throughout, and only some great shooting from Melissa Scott (a game high 11 points), Katelyn Allocco (4 points) and Jamie Osmulski (4 points) kept them in the game. Summit's frontcourt had a frigid shooting night, but made up for it with great defense and rebounding, holding NP's talented forward to single digits and fouling her out of the game. Summit closed the gap to 3 points to end the third quarter, led by a spark from Jenna Wilson, who made a great three point play. But the fourth quarter saw the defense take too many chances and NP's freshman point guard decimated Summit from then on, growing the margin to 9.

The great strides the Varsity made from last year should not be overlooked, as the team made great progress and laid the groundwork for an even better season next year.
