Playing their 3rd game in four days, the Varsity Lady Hilltoppers lost a close contest to Oak Knoll. Playing against a team that showed them multiple defensive looks, Summits offense took some time to get in gear, but a second quarter rally led by Danielle Scott, who finished with 16 points, and Megan Osmulski, staked the girls to a 26-24 halftime lead. But Oak Knoll looked the fresher team after the half, and went on a 9-0 run to open the third quarter. Only some nice baskets by Melissa Scott slowed the skid, and a rally in the fourth quarter led by Jamie Osmulski that brought the team within 4 points was not enough, as Oak Knoll hit their foul shots in the last three minutes.
JV Result
Won 43-13 What looked on paper to be a close game was over in the first quarter as the Summit JV Lady Hilltoppers raced to a 19-0 first quarter lead. All seven players scored in the quarter, led by Danielle Allocco’s 6 points, and the defense registered their third shutout quarter of the year so far. Delivering another good offensive game, Colleen Laughlin scored 8 points, all from the outside. Alex Reid had an overall good game, with 6 steals, 3 rebounds and 3 assists to go with her 8 points, and Shannon Murphy was a terror under the boards, clearing 7 rebounds and starting numerous fast breaks. A stifling defense underneath, led by Deanna Nelson, Abby Mell, and Candy Marchell, allowed Oak Knoll nothing and forced them to heave long shots to try to score
