Fri 12/02 6:30PMPrinceton Day (G) @ PDS A Lost 8-2 IN THE OPENING GAME OF THE SEASON ,THE HILLTOPPERS LOST TO PERENNIAL POWER ,PRINCETON DAY SCHOOL. GINA STELLUTO NETTED THE FIRST GAME OF THE SEASON AND HER CAREER IN THE FIRST PERIOD. THE GOAL WAS ASSISTED BY TARA O'MALLEY AND MAGGIE LAWRENCE. AFTER A 6-1 FIRST PERIOD THE DEFENSE TIGHTENED UP BEHIND THE STRONG PLAY OF CAROLINE PECK AND SARA BLOOM. TORI ROUND, MAKING HER FIRST CAREER START IN GOAL FOR SUMMIT, STOPPED 22 SHOTS. PECK TALLIED THE FINAL GOAL ON AN UNASSISTED RUSH UP ICE AT THE END OF THE 2ND PERIOD .THE TEAM FINISHED STRONGLY AND IS LOOKING FORWARD TO THE SEASON.
Wed 12/07 5:10PMRye Country Day(G) @ Rye CD A Lost 8-1 -- Summit women's ice hockey faced off against New York Prep powerhouse Rye Country Day School . After a tough opening period, Summit settled into a tight hockey game as the defense lead by Lauren De Metro,Caroline Peck,Sarah Bloom and Chealsea Daugherty played solid in front of goalie Tori Round . Tori was outstanding in net and finished with 24 saves and shut out Rye in the final period . Early in the third period Courtney Kern netted her first goal of the season with a beautiful rebound shot over the RCD goalie. The goal was assisted by Sal Baker and Tara O'Malley . The bench support by the new players added extra energy from the bench and on the ice as Summit won the third period battles.  
Sun 12/11 12:45PM Essex Hunt @ Bayonne HS Lost 5-1 Summit women played a strong game holding off a very talented Essex Hunt team to a 4 goal lead in the first period and then played the final two periods almost even. The highlight of the game was the outstanding play by the goalie Tori Round who had 38 saves and kept her team close over the final 40 minutes of play .The offense was lead by Sal Baker who scored on a beautiful full ice rush where her two lines mates Tara O'Malley and Courtney Kern passed and worked the puck into the zone each earning an assist on the play . The defense was strong, anchored by Caroline Peck and Lauren De Metro . Maggie Groves, Caroline Evans,and Maggie Lawrence ran a strong third line shift and forechecked Essex Hunt into several turnovers. New members of the team Molly Haley,Kristen Railey,Gina Stilluto,Kristen Toffey and Sarah Troy all contributed strong shifts.

Sun 12/18 12:45PM Princeston HS @Bayonne HS Lost 5-2 In the second meeting between the Summit Women and Princeton High School,the Summit Women came out strong and led the game thru the first period and most of the second period by two goals. Sal Baker scored the first goal unassisted storming down the left side and circling behind the goalie to bank one in for her second of the year . That goal was followed up by Courtney Kern ,also scoring her second goal of the year. by working hard in the crease to bang in a rebound on an assist from Ana Kramer . The line of Maggie Groves ,Caroline Evans,and Maggie Lawrence played a strong and aggressive game thru out and had numerous scoring chances .Caroline Peck and Lauren DeMetro and Sarah Bloom played a strong and solid defense with Summit moving into a low box defense which slowed a powerful Princeton throughout the game .

Won 2-0 . The game was tight from the beginning with Summit coming out with the first two scoring chances from the first and second lines . Tori Round made 6 strong saves in the first period to keep it a scoreless game . Caroline Peck , Sarah Bloom, and Lauren DeMetro were solid in the first period keeping Lawernceville out of the front of the net . Courtney Kern opened up the scoreing for Summit with a beautiful rebound after positioning herself at the far post ,with assists from Caroline Peck and Sarah Bloom . Tori Round continued the strong game in net during the second period and kept Lawernceville out of the net . In the third period Sarah Baker scored her fifth goal of the season on wrist shot through traffic. Baker ended the game with seven shots on goal and leads the team in scoring. Summit played all four lines and during the last two minutes worked hard to provide the first shut out of Round's Summit HS career. The new members of the team having a half season under their belt played an outstanding game as have all of the newcomers--Kristen Toffey,Anna Kramer,,Gina Stelluto,Sofia Alfrao,Dana Carbone, Bianca Facchini,Sarah Troy,Kristen Railey,Valerie Zolkina,Brittany Joostema,Molley Haley,Abbey Haenssler,Katie Gramigna, Bianca Facchinei,--all these girls have contributed over the course of the first half of the season

Tied 3-3 SUMMIT TOOK ON THE LAWRENCEVILLE FLAMES DOWN IN PRINCETON AND CAME AWAY WITH A HARD EARNED TIE 3-3. SUMMIT FELL BEHIND IN THE EARLY GOING 2-0 AT HE END OF THE FIRST. BUT EARLY IN THE 2ND PERIOD ,CAROINE PECK ,RUSHED END TO END AND NETTED A LOW WRISTER TO BRING THE GIRLS WITHIN ONE. THE DEFENSIVE WORK OF SARAH BLOOM,SARAH TROY AND LAUREN DEMETRO KEPT THE FLAMES TO JUST ONE GOAL IN THE PERIOD DESPITE BEING OUTSHOT 2-1 .THEN LATE IN THE SECOND A POWER PLAY GOAL BY MAGGIE GROVES ON A BREKAWAY BROUGHT THE SCORE TO 3-2. THE FORWARDS SAL BAKER ,TARA O'MALLEY AND KRISTEN TOFFEY WERE WORKING HARD CREATING SCORING CHANCES BUT COULDN'T NET ONE. BUT LATE IN THE 3RD GROVES SCORED HER SECOND GOAL OF THE GAME ON A NIFTY PASS FROM THE CORNER FROM HER LINEMATE COURTNEY KERN. THE GAME ENDED IN A 3-3 TIE. AS HAS BEEN THE CASE ALL SEASON, TORY ROUND WAS STELLAR IN NET TURNING BACK 26 SHOTS.
Sun 02/05 3:30PM Princeton HS @ Lawerenceville prep Tie 6-6 Summit Women's Hockey faced off against their public school rival Princeton High School and played to a thrilling 6-6 tie . The game featured tremendous team play as Summit came back for a three goal deficit in the first period to tie the game in the second . Tori Round was outstanding in goal finishing the game with 45 saves. The line of Courtney Kern,Tara O'Malley and Maggie Groves was around the net early in the second period with Groves scoring on a beautiful full ice rush getting Summit to within one goal early in the second . Caroline Peck,and Chealsea Daugherty each scored a goal with the Senior Daugherty notching her first goal of the season. Sal Baker scored in the second period on a wrist shot from the circle beating the Princeton goalie on the glove side . The third period was a high energy period with both sides going end to end. The defense parings for Summit lead by Lauren De Metro , Sarah Bloom , Caroline Peck , Cindy Racin, Molley Haley all played outstanding . In the third, goals by O'Malley on assists from Kern and Groves and Baker's second of the game put the Summit team up by one with 6:00 mins to play . After a flurry of saves and hard defense Summit came away with a well deserved tie reflecting the hard work and improvement of the team . Captain Sal Baker played her last game for Summit retiring as Summit Women's Hockey all time leading scorer with 21 goals & 14 assists . This years team of over 24 girls has set the stage for a strong program in the future as all of the girls played and contributed to a great season.
