It happens in the best of families, Summit suffered its first "mercy" loss of the season. Hanover Park's bats overpowered Summit's pitchers. Sophomore Tim Spangler started and pitched 3 pretty good innings, giving up only 3 hits. Hanover Park picked up 3 runs, but if a couple of fielding move had gone our way it might have been zero runs. Kevin McAvey pitched the 4th and was replaced by Marc Shahata. Shahata carried on through the 5th inning with Sam Rose pitching the final 6th inning. All totaled Hanover Park connected for 16 hits, 13 runs and still left 9 runners stranded.
Summit answered a lone HP run in the 1st inning. Evan Chang got on via an error by the left fielder and eventually was driven in by a Rose single. HP went up 3-1 in the 3rd inning and Summit bounced right back with 2 runs on its own in the bottom of the inning. Kevin Lackaye started off the inning with a single, but was erased by a fielder's choice. Eric Della Piazza singled and both scored on a single by Spangler. Summit theatened in the 4th and 6th innings but was unable to produce a run to force the game to go to the 7th inning.
