Morris Hills (17-5) threw Ryan Kestel (5-0) at Summit and he domminated the game. When tyhe dust settled he had struck out 15 Summit batters, allowed only 4 hits and 2 walks. Summit managed to bunch 3 of their 4 hits in the 4th inning resulting in their 2 runs. Eric Della Piazza singled and Sam Rose hammered a double to put runners on 2nd and 3rd. Tim Spangler drove them both in with a solid single.
Kevin McAvey was the starting pitcher and was tagged for 5 runs in the bottom of the second. The first 2 run were the result of a lead off single followed by a home run. McAvey would have been out of the inning with only those 2 run except that a 3rd strike that would have ended the inning got away from the catcher and extended the inning.
