Summit scored the first run in the top of the 1st inning, but it was all down hill from there. Matt Carbone started and was relieved by Evan Chang. Chang, in turn was relieved by Eddie Hagan. The Parsippany Hills hitters were just too strong as they racked up 13 hits in just 4 innings. Add to that 3 Summit errors and the result was 12 runs.
Summit's run in the first inning resulted from singles by Kevin Lackaye and Eric Della Piazza plus a Par Hills error. Summits second run came in the 4th inning, Sam Rose led off with a single and moved to 3rd on Fred Westphalen's single. Rose scored on Marc Shahata's ground ball. In the 5th, Summit threatened to keep game going for another inning. With 2 out Della Piazza and Tim Spangler had back-to-back singles. However, a sharp ground ball to the 3rd baseman forced Della Piazza at 3rd., ending the game.
