For the first four innings everything was roses for Summit. Tim Donnally had scattered 5 hits and yielded no runs. Meanwhile Summit scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 4th when Tim Spangler singled, Kevin McAvey and Donnally were walked and Dan Weber came up with a 2 run single. Unfortunately, things went wrong in the fifth. After a lead off out, Donnally hit the next batter. That was the catalyst for 5 consecutive singles that resulted in four runs and a 5th crossed the plate on a passed ball. Summit managed only one hit in the final 3 innings while Par Hills picked a run in the 6th and two unearned runs in the 7th. Kevin McAvey came in to pitch the final out and struck out the batter. |
