Both pitchers were at the top of their game. The defense by both teams was very good. Base running was solid. It was real baseball. What's more, the complete game took only 1 hr. 30 min.
Parsippany got their only run in the 2nd inning when the leadoff hitter singled and went to second on a sacrifice. A second single, after one out, drove in the run. Parsippany managed to load the bases in both the 3rd and 4th innings, but some fine pitching by Kevin Lackaye got out of the innings without allowing a run.
In the 5th Dan Weber hit a one out double. The next batter struck out, bringing Marc Shehata to the plate. He smashed a triple to left field that would have been over the fence except for the fact that the fence has yet to be installed. That scored the tying run. Evan Chang hit a hard shot to the shortstop, who put too much on the throw and it went over the 1st baseman, allowing Shehata to score the go ahead run. It was Parsippany's only defensive mistake of the game
Lackaye really rose to the occassion in the 6th and 7th as he put down all six batters that he faced. It is worth noting that the 7th inning brought up the 2-3-4 hitters and Lackaye struck them all out.
