Summit started with a very aggressive zone defense and held Mendham to 4 points in the 1st quarter. At the same time Mendham was equally tough holding Summit to 5 points. Mendham finished the half with 18 points and a 5 point advantage. Chris Kehoe helped keep the game close with 8 of his game high 14 in the half. Mendham began to pull away in 3rd quarter, aided by three 3-pointers by Mendham's Burstein. As the gap grew Summit was forced to go man-to man. Mendham's good ball movement and shooting took its toll on Summit. Tim Donnally's 6 points helped hold the 3rd quarter margin to 10 points. Mendham continued to widen the gap and, with the game out of reach, Summit gave their bench significant playing time.
Kehoe led Summit's scoring while Donnally had 10 rebounds. Summit must defeat West Essex and Parsippany next week to qualify for the State Tournament. |
