Summit ran into yet another 7'1" center. He certainly wasn't another Zoubek, but Marciano caused Summit a great deal of trouble, blocking shots and causing Summit to alter numerous other shots. While Marciano played "mr. inside" Roselle Park's guard Garcia (22 points) lit up the scoring from the outside. In the 1st quarter the two combined for 17 of Roselle Park's 19 points. Summit got off to a dismal start and ended that quarter down by 10 points. In spite all the difficulties Tim Donnally faced under the basket, he managed 6 point and matched Marciano's output.
Travis Marchell came alive in the 2nd quarter with 10 points and Summit closed the gap to 7 points. At the beginning of the 3rd quarter baskets by Donnally and Chris Kehoe got Summit to within 5 points, and hope returned to the Summit fans. Those hopes were doused when Garcia hit a pair of treys and the quarter ended with Summit again behind by 10. That was as close as Summit would get for the rest of the game.
Donnally continued his good scoring, inspite of the 7'1" obstacle, as he and Marchell each scored 17 points. Donnally had 10 rebounds for another "double-double."
