but Summit closed to 14-13 at the quarter behind the shooting of Travis Marchell and Chris Kehoe. Tim Donnally caught fire in the 2nd quarter, scoring 9 of his 13 points to lead Summit to a 31-28 half time lead.
Scotch Plains responded in the 3rd quarter and regained a 6 point advantage beginning the final quarter. Field goals by Marchell, Kehoe, Donnally and Jordan Healy closed the gap to 51-50 before Scotch Plains scored to make it 53-50 with about 4 minutes left. With 3 minutes remaining Marchell was fouled shooting a trey. He sank all three free three throws and knotted the score at 53. After two Scotch Plains FGs Kehoe hit to make it 57-55. The teams traded baskets and the score was 59-57, but now there were only 20 seconds left and Summit was forced to foul. Scotch Plains was perfect on 4 foul shots and Summit failed to take advantage of its possessions. The free throw line made a big difference as Scotch Plains out scored Summit 11-4 from the foul line.
Marchell led the scoring with 22 points, followed by Kehoe (16 points) and Donnally (13 points). Both Kehoe and Donnally pulled down 7 rebounds.
