In what can only be described as their most disappointing loss of the season, the varsity Lady Hilltoppers were beaten by a physical Linden squad in the first round of the Union County Championships. Summit looked off their game right from the start, shooting 2 for 11 from the field in the first quarter, but balanced scoring in the second from Megan Osmulski, Katelyn Allocco, Shannon Murphy and Jamie Osmulski kept Summit close, and when Danielle Scott hit a lay up at the buzzer, Summit only trailed by one, 20-21.
In the third, Scott lit it up for 9 points, but Summit's shooting woes continued, and Summit had trouble keeping Linden off the boards, where they were getting second and third looks at the basket close in. By the fourth quarter, despite hoops by Alex Reid and Scott, the momentum had swung solely to Linden, who piled on the points in the paint while Summit couldn't connect from the outside.
