The Summit Lady Hilltoppers rolled to a dominant victory in a total team effort besting Oak Knoll 45-34 before a packed house at Summit High. Summit played their best defensive game of the year, and held Oak Knoll to 0 points in the second quarter for an 18-7 lead, which sealed the outcome. Summit received balanced scoring during the half from many sources, with center Danielle Scott having a dominant first quarter where her drives were unstoppable, and then the outside shooting of guards Jenna Wilson, Alex Reid and Katelyn Allocco widened the lead in the second quarter. The defense, led by Shannon Murphy at the top of the 3-2 zone and Megan Osmulski down low, kept OK's guards from making any of their shots during the quarter. OK came out pressing in the third quarter, but Wilson and Danielle Allocco did a good job of breaking the press, and key baskets by Katelyn Allocco and Jamie Osmulski kept OK at bay. The lead of 29-16 seemed safe heading into the fourth quarter, but with the referees letting the girls play and OK pressing all over, it became a contest of OK hitting threes and Summit hitting foul shots. Fortunately, Summit was 10 for 12 from the line in the fourth ( 19 for 23 for the game!) as Jenna Wilson hit 5 of her 6 free throws and Jamie Osmulski, Alex Reid and Melissa Scott all hit from the line to keep the lead safe. Danielle Scott finished with 14 points and 12 boards and three steals for another terrific performance.
