The Varsity Lady Hilltoppers bounced back from Tuesday's loss with a convincing 41-30 win over PH tonight before another great crowd in Summit. Summit rushed out to a 7-0 lead with an energetic press and some solid defense, and Katelyn Allocco jump started the offense with three quick buckets to start the game. But the lack of rebounding, which has plagued the Hilltoppers all season, allowed PH back in the game, and only a 3-point goal from Megan Osmulski left Summit leading by 1, 9-8, at the end of the quarter. The second quarter wasn't much better, until Coach inserted Candy Marchell for her second varsity action of the year. Marchell responded with 2 baskets and 3 clutch rebounds, and Summit actually widened their lead by halftime. The third quarter had PH open with a 1-2-2 sagging zone defense in the hopes of doubling Danielle Scott. But the strategy backfired when Summit held the ball until they could draw PH out, and then attacked with Scott and Shannon Murphy recording easy shots underneath. With the score only 27-16 at the end of the third quarter, the crowd expected PH to take the game to Summit, and they did, opening up in man to man. All game long, Summit threw a defense at PH to thwart their terrific point guard, and the combination of Jamie Osmulski, Danielle Allocco, Alex Reid and Melissa Scott all took turns battling their star. Along with plenty of help from their teammates, the defenders completely took her out of her game, limiting her to desperation heaves at the basket all game. With the defense clamping down, it was up to the offense to score, and that role was taken by Jenna Wilson, who had her best quarter by far, breaking the press with her dribble, driving down the lane for some beautiful lay ups, or drawing the defense towards her and then hitting Danielle Scott. Wilson registered 8 of her 10 points in the final 5 minutes to widen Summit's lead, and only some lucky three point goals made the margin 11 at games end. Scott finished with 14 points and a perfect 6 for 6 from the line, to lead Summit.

JV Result

Won 51-34  The JV Lady Hilltoppers took to the floor and played their best game of the year in dominating Parsippany hills tonight in summit.  Continuing her torrid run, Emily Cristaldi set a team high scoring mark this season when she scored 22 points for the JV, hitting from everywhere; three pointers, fast break lay-ups, and short jumpers.  She also had 4 assists to lead the attack, and dribbled through any pressure PH could muster.  Candy Marchell, the usual scoring leader, had a quiet first half, but came out strong in the third quarter and scored all her 7 pints to go along with her 7 rebounds. The other leading scorer was Cassie Hall, who made some strong drives to the hoop to register her 10 points.  Mickey Brown had a great game on the boards, clearing 4 rebounds, and Deanna Nelson had 4 points and just as many steals. Abby Mell and Claire Cummins played well on defense, and Amanda Corrigan and Michelle Rickley played well pressuring the ball on the press, as did Najla Austin.
