Fri 12/01 6:OOPMPRINCETON DAY A Lost 8-0 The Lady Hilltoppers opened the season against Princeton Day School and lost 8-0 . The game was lopsided in the first period with PDS scoring a few quick goals,  it was 6-0 at the end of the first . The Summit squad managed to right the ship and only allowed 2 goals the rest of the game.  Stellar play by goalie Tory Round and defensive stalwarts  , Caroline Peck , Clare O'Malley and  Captain Sara Bloom kept the potent PDS offense in check. PDS is one of the top teams in the state and will send a few girls to play hockey in college.

Along with Capt. Bloom, Caroline Peck,Tara O'Malley and Courtney Kern were named assistant Captains of the team. With 8 new freshman and a some returning veterans ,the team is looking for improvement over last season.  (reporting by Thomas Kern)

Mon 12/11 5:00PM PRINCETON @Lawrenceville A Lost 10-2 The Hilltoppers traveled to Princeton High School. Summit's first goal of the season was scored by Caroline Peck in the second period on a nice shot from the blueline that found its way through the 5 hole of the Princeton netminder . The goal was unassisted. Princeton led 7-1 till Courtney Kern tallied Summits next goal late in the second by lifting the puck over the shoulder of the goalie ,after Maggie Groves ripped a shot off of the goalies pads. Freshmen Erika Hartwyk and Jen Caputo pressured the Princeton goalie all game long. Brittany Joostema did a nice job clearing the puck out of the defensive zone and getting it up to to the forwards.  (reporting by Thomas Kern)
Sun 12/17 11:30AMESSEX HUNT @ Bayonne A

Lost 2-1The Summit Girls Hockey team lost a cliffhanger to The Essex Hunt Club . It was a hard fought battle the entire game. Tufts University bound Captain Sara Bloom and freshman Emma Lucaci played stong the entire game and kept Essex in check with aggressive play in the defensive zone. Summit got on the scoreboard early in the third period. Courtney Kern threaded a pass from behind the net to Tara O'Malley in the slot. O'Malley wristed the puck past the Essex goalie  to bring the Hilltoppers to within one of the lead.Anna Kramer and Caroline Peck had many rushes up ice and did a great job carrying the puck out of the Summit zone. With a minute to go in the game,Tori Round (who had 23 saves ) was pulled for an extra skater . The strategy almost worked but alas Summit could not put the tying goal in the net. (reporting by Thomas Kern)

Mon 12/18 3:45PMPINGRY @Bridgewater A Lost 5-0 While it is was a  loss for the Hlilltoppers, it represents a 6 goal improvemnet in the score from last year . The girls played hard all game. It was only 1-0 at the end of the first period. Gina Stelluto led a spirited Summit defense that helped clear the zone and keep Summit in the game. Maggie Groves played well along with her linemates and continued to be a force as a  forechecking forward. Tori Round had her best game of the year with 46 recorded saves in the game. Coach Romine was thrilled with the improvement in the team thus far this year. He is looking for big things in the second half.(reporting by Thomas Kern)

Beacon Hill Club A

Lost 3-1 In a spirited game in front of a large crowd, Beacon Hill edged Summit. The action all game long was end to end with many scoring chances for both squads. Adding to the excitement was a pair of sisters (Kern and Groves) skating against their siblings. After a scoreless first period , Beacon managed to solve Tory Round early in the second ,taking a 1-0 lead. Round finished the game with 46 saves, many of the highlight variety. Anna Kramer and Jen Caputo set the tone for Summit  working hard all game long. Summit got on the board in the third when Caroline Peck fed a nice pass to Maggie Groves in the slot who managed to lift the puck over the Beacon goalie. (reporting by Thomas Kern)
Sat 01/13 4:15PMESSEX HUNT A A Lost 7-3 With the starting goalie out of action,  Freshman, Sarah Cummings stepped up and put on the goalie pads(never played goalie before) for the Hilltoppers. Although ,the final score was a 7-3 loss,the game was much closer than the score. Cummings made over 30 saves in net. Caroline Peck netted two goals ,the final one on a nifty assist from Clare O'Malley.Maggie Groves finished up the Summit scoring in the third fighting through a crowd in the slot and wristing the puck past the goalie. Valerie Zolkina continued her stellar play on defense 
Sun 01/14 1130AMBEAVER DAM@ Bayonne A Lost 6-0 Facing a tough net minder that they never could solve .With a number of the veterans of the team unavailable it was a nice peek at the future with a number of Freshman getting ample ice time. Shelby Macmillan,Sarah Cummings(playing forward) ,Ericka  Hartwick, Emma Lucaci ,Jen Caputo all contributed big plays and great spirit in the loss. Clare O'Malley,also a frosh ,has made a smooth transition from Defense to Offense and has sparked the team in the last two games.

Lost 6-0 Summit mamged to hold Pingry to 1 goal after a rough 5-0 first period. Once again Tory Round was stellar in net making over 30 saves.

Sun 01/21 11:30AM Beacon Hill Club H Lost 3-1 In a tight rematch,Beacon managed to come out on top. The game was exciting and the large crowd clearly enjoyed the up and down action. Caroline Peck scored the lone goal in th first period to put Summit in the lead 1-0. Although the Summit Defense held strong ,led by Sara Bloom ,Beacon struck for 3 goals over the final 2 frames for the final margin 3-1.Tory Round made 21 saves for the Hilltoppers.
Mon 01/29 5:30PM Beard  JV@Twin Oaks Lost 3-0 Summit couldn't get any of its 13 shots past the Morristown-Beard goalie. Tory Round helped keep Summit in the game with 17 saves.
Fri 02/02 6:30PMLAWRENCEVILLE A

Lost 5-3 The Hilltoppers lost to the Big Red  of Lawrenceville. While getting over their "Bus Legs "  the squad fell behind early 2-0 in the first period . Then the first line of Tara O' Malley, Maggie Groves and Courtney Kern went to work . Over the course of the final two frames, Groves scored 2 goals and  O' Malley scored the other. All the goals were assisted on by linemate  Kern. With Caroline Peck carryiing the puck out of the defensive zone the Hilltoppers cut it to a one goal margin ,only to fall short at the buzzer.The team had over 30 shots on goal the highest output of the season. Erika Hartwyck ,Gina Stelluto and continued their aggressive play. Tory Round made 27 saves in the game.

Sun 02/04 11:30AMMorristown Beard JV@ Bayonne A Lost 6-1.In a rematch at Bayonne,the Hilltoppers lost to Morristown Beard. Although the score doesn't reflect it the game was much more tightly played. While having many scoring chances, led by Jen Caputo, Maggie Groves and Clare O'Malley the team was thwarted by the Crimson defense. Again the #1 defensive pair of Sara Bloom and Caroline Peck continued to keep Mo. Beard at bay with crisp cross ice passes and breakouts that would make Keith Nixon proud. The Hilltoppers got on the board late in the third with Courtney Kern stuffing one in off of a rebound from Care O' Malley. Tory Round had 24 saves for Summit. 
Wed 02/07 3:30PMLAWRENCEVILLE JV A Won 1-0 The Hilltoppers skated to their first victory of the season against the Lawrenceville Big Red. It is hard to pick one player who played the strongest  since the entire team skated, passed and shot the puck the  best they had all season . The offense had over 40 shots on goal and the defense gave Tory Round her first shutout of the season(18 saves). With the score 0-0 in the third ,Caroline Peck skated out of her defensive zone and went end to end ...stopped in the slot and let go a wrist shot that beat the Lawrenceville goalie over her shoulder. Peck's sweet goal let the Hilltoppers enjoy a well earned victory.
Sun 02/11 11:30AMPRINCETON@ Bayonne A Lost 5-0 to the top team in the state. Tory Round saved 21 shots in the first period as the game remained deadlocked after the first . In the second the Tigers scored 3 goals in route to the 5-0 win., Gina Stelluto and Caroline Peck continued their stellar play on defense during the game . Maggie Groves and Jen Caputo hustled all game long and had some nice offensive chances in the third. Round finished with 51 saves.
