Evan Chang pitched 6 great innings and Tim Spangler came on in relief for the 7th inning and pitched his way out of a very tense situation to preserve the victory. Chang gave up only 4 hits, 1 earned run and a lone walk.

Chang got off to shaky start when the first two batter singled and a wild pitch put them on first and third with no outs. Summit came up with a 6-4-3 double play to erase the runner at first, but the runner on 3rd scored. In the top of the 3rd, Eddie Hagan was hit by a pitch and big triple by Spangler scored him to tie the game. Chatham picked up another run on a Summit mental mistake. Chatham's leadoff batter got on base via an error and got to 2nd on ground out. With two outs the next batter beat out a ground ball in a very close call at 1st base. Unfortunately, Summit was so focused on the call at first that they failed to notice the runner from 2nd had decided to try to score. That gave Chatham a 2-1 lead.

Summit regained the lead in the 6th inning as Spangler led off with a single. A walk and a passed ball put the runners on 2nd and 3rd. Kenny Miller smacked a solid single that drove in both base Runners and Summit was back on top 3-2. Summit added 2 more runs it the 7th. Hagan got on via an error, Chang was walked. A wild pitch again put runners on 2nd and 3rd. A single by Tim Cotter scored two runners and Summit carried a 5-2 lead into the bottom of the 7th.

Spangler took the mound for the 7th and struck out the first batter. However, a single, a hit batter, and another single loaded the bases. A third single drove in two runs and moved the tieing run to 3rd. Another walk and the bases were loaded with the winning run on 2nd. Spangler bore down and got the next batter to pop up to Hagan. But the bases were still loaded. On the next pitch Chatham's number 3 hitter flied out to Tim Kane to end the game.
