This was a well played baseball game, dominated by some fine pitching. Eddie Hagan and Mike Montero teamed up to pitch a 3 hitter. The Parsippany pitcher did the same. Summit picked up 2 runs in the 1st inning. Hagan drew a leadoff walk and was advanced to 2nd by Evan Chang's sacrifice bunt, Matt Carbone was walked and back-to-back singles by Kevin Lackaye and Tim Cotter scored two runs. As it turned out, the Parsippany starter followed that rocky first inning with 6 great innings. He allowed only one more hit (by Tom Casey) and wound up striking out 11 Summit batters.

In the bottom of the 3rd inning Parsippany scored 3 runs of which 2 were unearned. Summit's only real treat to score again came in the 4th inning. Tim Cotter walked and moved to 2nd on a ground out. Tom Casey singled and Summit had runners on the corners with one out, but Parsippany responded by striking out the next two batters. After Parsippany's 3rd inning Mike Montero limited Parsippany to a single base runner (a walk).

While Summit came up on the short end, the strong pitching by Hagan and Montero was a good sign for the future
