Things looked pretty bleak for most of the 1st half. Summit scored early when Mike Vitale intercepted a Dover pass on the Dover 30 yardline but Summit eventually had to settle for a Edgar Ozols field goal. On Dover's next two possessions they put together drives of 82 and 75 yards to grab a 14-3 lead. Summit spirits were lifted by the Summit's last possession of the half . Summit drove 61 yards. The drive was highlighted by the running of Matt Ruark and Vitale as well as pass receptions by Matt Rea and Kevin Delle Donne. With a 1st down on the Dover 9 Ozols hit Delle Donne for a TD and Summit was back in the game.
The 2nd half turned out to be all Summit. It began on Dover's first possession. The Summit defense forced Dover to punt from their 16 yard line. The punt was blocked by Andre Torres and Kevin Lockhart scooped up the ball and carried it into the endzone to give Summit the lead,16-14. After a couple of exchanges Summit took possession on their 48. Three carries by Ruark gave Summit a 1st down at the Dover 27. An unsportsmen like conduct foul against Dover moved the ball to the 13. On the next play, Ruark slashed through the defense to score and give Summit a nice 24-14 lead .
Dover took the kickoff and went in to catchup mode. Their second pass attempt was intercepted by Matt Rea on Dover's 44. After one running play Ozols hit Delle Donne on a semi-screen and Delle Donne rumbled through the the Dover defense for a 42 yard TD. With the score now 31-14, Summit spent the remainder of the 4th quarter chewing up clock and giving the second team offense a shot at some playing time.
