Losses are always hard to take, particularly when it could have easily been a victory. However, Summit had their best defensive game of the season. Pass interceptions were Summit's undoing. On Summit's first possession Hanover Park intercepted a pass on the Summit 35 yard line and 6 plays later they were in the end zone with a 7-0 lead Summit bounced back with a drive that started on the Summit 38 yard line. The highlight was a 53 yard run by Matt Ruark that gave Summit a first down on the HP 10. After a run that went nowhere and an incomplete pass, Edgar Ozols hit Matt Rea for an 11 yard TD pass and Summit was back in the game.

Mid-way through the 2nd quarter Summit had a great chance to take the lead. Summit blocked an HP punt and took over on the HP 14 yard line. A run, two incomplete passes and a 5 yard penalty left Summit with a 4th down on the 17. Ozols' Field Goal attempt had plenty of distance, but went just left of the uprights and the half ended 7-7.

Summit, on their 2nd possession of the 2nd half, launched another drive from the Summit 45. Six running plays gave Summit a 1st down on the HP 9 yard line. Five of the 6 plays featured Ruark who gained all but 4 yards of the drive. The drive stalled but it looked likely that, if worst came to worst, it would be an easy field goal for Ozols. However, a 3rd down pass was intercepted on the goal line and returned 100 yards for a touchdown and instead of Summit taking the lead, HP was on top 14-7.

Early in the 4th quarter Summit was faced with a 4th and short on their 28 yardline. Summit tried a fake punt but it went wrong and HP got the ball back on the Summit 15 yard line. The Summit defense prevented a score but they were pinned down in their own territory. Eventually HP got possession on the Summit 39 yardline. On 3rd and 6 HP executed the option play and broke it for 35 yards and a crushing TD. Summit would threaten to score in the closing minutes but the drive ended on the HP 7 yard line.
