Weequahic's runner is Vines and he quickly established his credentials. On the first play from scrimmage he busted through for an 82 yard TD run. On the second play of Weequahic's 3rd possession he out ran the Summit secondary for a 46 yard TD. Suddenly Summit was down 14-0. Summit showed that they could run against Weequahic when they took the next kickoff and drove to a 1st down on the Weequahic 6 yard line. The drive featured the running of Matt Ruark and Dwaine Dabney. The drive stalled and Edgar Ozols kicked a beautiful 30 yard field goal. After stopping Weequahic Summit took over at mid field. Behind the running of Mike Vitale, Matt Rea and Ruark, Summit moved to the 5 yard line. Vitale took it in from there, and Ozals hit Kevin Delle Donne for a 2 point PAT. Now Summit was back in the game. Kevin Lockhart killed Weequahic's next possession by intercepting at the Summit 5 yard line with about 3 minutes left in the half. Vitale and Ozals helped get a 1st down at Summit's 20 and it looked like Summit might go to the lockers down only 3. However, a series of incomplete passes forced Summit to punt the ball with about 2 minutes still on the clock. That was enough time for Vines and company to strike for a TD as the clock ran out, and the score stood 20-11.

The air went out of Summit's balloon on the first possession of the half when Ozols' punt was blocked and recovered on the Summit 11. One pass play later the score was 27-11. On Summit's 3rd possession of the half the punt snap went over Ozols head and was recovered on the Summit 1. Vines took it in for the score for his 3rd TD.

Summit bounced back with an 80 yard TD drive primarily on the running of Vitale, who had his best ruuning game with 111 yards, and a 13 yard TD pass to Delle Donne. Unfortunately it was too little too late.
