This was the final home game for Summit and it certainly delivered an exciting double overtime finale. It was only fitting that Chris Kehoe, Senior Captain and mainstay, would have a big game with a season high 30 points and 12 rebounds.
Morris Hills jumped to an early lead but a pair of treys by Kendall Baker, 4 points by Kehoe and 3 points by Jordan Healey knotted the score at 13 by the end of the quarter. Summit pulled ahead 28-26 at the half with Kehoe adding 5 more points, Andre Torres 4 points and Baker contributed another 3-pointer. Kehoe scored another 9 points in the 3rd quarter and Baker and Torres hit key 3s and Summit ended the 3rd quarter with a comfortable 10 point lead (48-38).
Morris Hills came back strong in the 4th quarter. Midway through the quarter Morris Hills had closed the gap to 4 points (52-48). A free throw by Healey, another trey by Baker and one by Torres rebuilt the lead to 10 points. But Morris Hills out scored Summit 9-2 to get back to within 3 points (60-57) with less than 2 minutes to play. A Kehoe FG was answered by a MH FG and a free throw and the lead was down to 2 points. Another field goal by Kehoe at the 38 second mark made it two possession game at 64-60. However, Morris Hills scored and Summit fumbled the in-bound pass that led to another Morris Hills score to tie the game and send it to overtime.
In the 1st Overtime each team scored only a single point as Morris Hills went into a protracted stall. The 2nd overtime opened with 3- pointer by Kehoe but Morris Hills answered with four points to take its first lead since early in the 1st quarter. Torres regained the lead with a trey and that was followed by a pair of free throws by Kehoe. Kyle Mahoney clinched the victory by draining two more free throws.
