For the first three quarters Summit struggled against a strong Parsippany Hills zone defense. Good shots were tough to come by and even when Summit got one it didn't go down. Summit managed to sink only 2 of 7 in the 1st quarter and 4 of 14 in the 2nd quarter. To make matters worse Parsippany Hills really moved well without the ball and kept the Summit defense off balance. Parsippany Hills had a big 3rd quarter to take a 7 point lead into the final 8 minutes.
To make matters worse Par Hills scored to first basket of the 4th quarter to put Summit 9 points behind. Chris Kehoe answered the FG and then began a great string of 3 point shooting. Kendall Baker drained a trey, Kehoe scored and Baker added another 3 pointer to pull with in 1 point. Par Hills scored and but Baker scored again from behind the 3 point line. Now the score was tied and the student body at the far end of the gym were really into the game. After Par Hills regained the lead with a field Goal, Jordan Healey came to the rescue with two more 3s and suddenly Summit was on top 45-41 with only 2 minutes left. Par Hills was about to give up. Par Hills' Greg Solomine, who was the high scorer of the game with 23 points, scored a three to make it 45-44. Adolfo Arietta scored and Kehoe hit on one of two free throws to get back to a 4 point lead but Solomine again scored to make it 2 point game with 22 seconds remaining. Par Hills had one more chance to tie the game. But Kehoe stuffed the shooter under the basket, the whistle blew, was it a foul on Kehoe? No, it was called a jump ball with the possession arrow pointed in Summit's direction. James Kennedy was fouled and and eventually hit 3 in a row to end the game.
