This was a make or break game to keep Summit's State Tournament chances alive. Summit struggled to stay in the game in the 1st half that finished with West Essex up 25-19. Jordan Healey (9 points) and Chris Kehoe (8 points) scored all but 2 of Summit's 19 first half points. Summit bounced back in the 3rd quarter with Healey scoring 7 more points as Summit pulled to within 1 point (35-34).
After a field goal by West Essex, Healey drained a 3 pointer to tie the game at 37-37. Andre Torres answered a WE three pointer with one of his own and the score was tied at 42. West Essex took a 44-42 lead and had possession when Summit stole the ball with 38 seconds left. Summit's shot wouldn't go down, but in the scramble for the ball WE knocked out of bounds and Summit had a reprieve with 8.5 on the clock. Sadly, Summit was called for traveling when the ball was inbounded. Of course, Summit had to foul and WE made both free throws to put the game out of reach.
Healey had a big game with 21 points. Kehoe led the rebounding with 9 to go with his 12 points
