Lost 6-1 The Lady Hilltoppers hockey team opened the season against Princeton Day School. Princeton Day scored two first period goals.  Summit had opportunities with solid play from Tara O'Malley, Courtney Kern and Maggie Groves. In the second period, the momentum shifted to Princeton Day with some great individual efforts. In the third period, Princeton added an early goal to make it 6-0, however, Summit did not fold. Summit applied tremendous pressure which eventually paid off when Clare O'Malley scored with assists from Chrissy Ost and Emma Lucaci.  Defensively, Summit found an answer to the Princeton attack with Erin Fitzpatrick and Erika Hartwyk playing big roles.  Summit was out shot 22-12 and Tory Round had 16 saves for Summit.

Despite the 6-1 score, second year Coach Jayson Romine expressed nothing but optimism as the Lady Hilltoppers are returning almost their entire squad from a year ago, as well as a host of experienced freshmen.  This year’s squad appears to have the depth that is needed to compete on a high level.

Lost 7-1 A talented Rye Country Day School defeated the Hilltoppers in Rye by the score of 7-1.   Rye took control in the first period, tallying four goals. In the second period, Summit was pressured by the potent Rye attack but the play of Kristin Toffey and Molly Groves helped limit the damage.  In the third period, Summit was able to avoid a shutout when Courtney Kern scored a goal with assists from Tara O’Malley and Caroline Peck.  Summit was out shot 34-15.  Tory Round had 27 saves for Summit.

Lost 5-1 Morristown Beard, ranked number one last year, got off to a fast start scoring three goals before a flurry of shots by Summit resulted in a goal by Tara O'Malley, assisted by Courtney Kern. The second period was a scoreless defensive struggle with Emma Lucaci and Jen Capputo battling to keep the Morristown Beard attack in check. In the final period, Morristown Beard tacked on two goals. Summit had many scoring opportunities with Clare O'Malley and Maggie Groves leading the Summit attack. Summit was out shot 37-23. Tory Round had 32 saves, many of the spectacular variety.

Lost 3-2 Summit lost to Pingry in a tightly contested battle in Bridgewater. The Hilltoppers controlled the first period of actions with many scoring opportunities and solid defense. Senior captain Courtney Kern scored with assists from Chrissy Ost and Erin Fitzpatrick to give Summit a 1-0 lead at the end of the first period.

The second period was more end to end action with both Maggie and Molly Groves leading the Summit attack. Pingry scored late in the second period to tie the game at 1-1.

In the third period, Clare O'Malley scored with an assist from Caroline Herkes to put Summit on top with a score of 2-1. Pingry answered four minutes later to tie the game at 2-2. Pingry quickly scored again to take a 3-2 lead. The final two minutes of regulation was highlighted by Summit pulling their goalie for an extra shooter but unfortunately no goals were scored. Summit out shot Pingry 27-20. Tory Round had 17 saves. Overall it was a great team effort and a solid performance by all.

Lost 4-0 Hunt scored 2 first period goals to take a 2-0 lead. Summit had their opportunities with Maggie Groves, Courtney Kern, and Tara O'Malley pressuring the Essex Hunt goalie, but were denied by excellent goal play. In the second period, Summit goalie, Tory Round, turned back 14 shots to keep Summit in the game. The third period belonged to Essex Hunt as they added two goals for a 4-0 victory. Summit was out shot 31-19. Tory Round had 27 saves for Summit.

Lost 8-1 In a rematch from less than 24 hours earlier, Essex Hunt overpowered Summit in Bayonne. Essex Hunt controlled play from the start of the game. Penalties and defensive lapses gave Essex Hunt too many opportunities for Summit to overcome. In the first period, Summit trailing 2-0, got their lone score from Maggie Groves with an assist from Chrissy Ost. Essex Hunt added one goal for a 3-1 lead. The second period was scoreless with both teams stepping up the defensive pressure.
In the third period, Essex Hunt took advantage of Summit's turnovers and penalties and tallied 5 goals to cruise to an 8-1 victory. Essex Hunt out shot Summit 32-17 and Tory Round had 24 saves for Summit.
Mon 01/06 Morristown Beard
Lost 7-0 Summit was defeated by a highly touted Morristown Beard squad. Mo-Beard was in control early on scoring just 3 minutes into the game 1-0. Summit relied on goalie Tory Round to keep them in the game with 14 first period saves. Summit had a great chance to tie the score when Emma Lucaci had an uncontested breakaway only to be denied by a great save.  Morristown Beard added 3 goals in both the second and third periods compiling a total of 41 shots on goal to only 9 for Summit. Five of seven Morristown Beard’s goals came on second chance opportunities. Tory Round had 34 saves for Summit.

Won 4-1 Summit came out energized with Maggie Groves opening the scoring just 4 minutes into the contest with an assist from Chrissy Ost .Princeton could not get untracked offensively as Summit defensemen Erin Fitzpatrick, Erika Hartwyk, and Caroline Hurkes did a great job of clearing , fore checking, and preventing second chance shots. In the second period  Princeton tied  the score at one. Claire O’Malley  was active on both ends of the ice and finally it paid off as her shot was put in by freshmen Molley Groves. In the third period Summit took control of the game, Kristen Toffey was denied by the crossbar on a great shot.   Maggie Groves then had an unassisted short hand goal her second of the game to put Summit up 3--1. In the waning minutes Princeton attempted to pull their goalie only to have Jen Caputo score an empty netted goal just before time ran out. Summit out shot Princeton> 30-17 and Tory Round had 16 saves for Summit. It was a total team effort  both offensively and defensively.
Fri 01/25 Away Princeton H.S
Lost 4-1  Summit traveled to Princeton University to play Princeton High School.  Princeton  had the early momentum scoring 5 minutes into the contest. Summit answered  just 23 seconds later as  Tara O’Malley scored with assists from Emma Luccaci and Erika Hartwyk to tie the score at 1-1. Princeton answered less than a minute later to take a 2-1 lead, Princeton added one more goal to take a 3-1 first period lead. Summit had just eight skaters to rotate and goalie Tory Round kept them in the game with 13 first period  saves. In the second fatigue became a factor for the Summit defenders but the strong play of Erin Fitzpatrick, Jennifer Caputo and Claire O’Malley helped limit Princeton to one goal 4-1  . After intermission Summit came out rejuvenated controlling most of the final period. Emma Luccaci  , Molley Groves and Tara O’Malley all had great opportunities to score only to be denied by great goal play. Summit was out shot 38-21 Tory Round had 34 saves for Summit. It was a great effort under the circumstances.

Lost 8-0 Summit traveled to Pottstown Pa. to play the Hill School. Hill got off to a fast start scoring 3 first period goals. In the second period it was all Hill again as they tallied 3 more goals to take a 6-0 lead into the final period. Hill added two more in the third period to make it an 8-0 final. While Summit had many fine chances they were up against perhaps the best goalie in WIHLMA league and for good reason. Hill School out shot Summit 34-10 and Tory Round had 26 saves.

Morristown Beard @ Bayonne

Lost 5-2 In the first period Tara O’Malley scored four minutes into the contest to give Summit a 1-0 lead, assisted by Erin Fitzpatrick. MoBeard did not waste anytime as they tied the score 2 minutes later and added another goal with just a minute left in the period for a 2-1 lead. On the ensuing face-off Summit controlled the puck , Claire O’Malley, although well defended, broke through the MoBeard defense and scored from an almost impossible angle with an assist from her sister Tara to tie the score at 2-2 at the end of the first period. In the second period MoBeard regained the lead 3-2 in a well played second period. MoBeard then scored a heartbreaking goal with just 7 seconds left in the period to go up 4-2.  In the third period Mobeard added an insurance goal to go up 5-2. Summit played well but the potent MoBeard attack proved to have to much firepower. Mobeard unleashed an astonishing 58 shots to Summit’s26 , Tory round had 53 saves .
Wed 01/30 Away Beacon Hill
Tie 2-2Summit tied cross town rival Beacon Hill. The first period set the tone for the entire game , a defensive battle in which neither team had a shot on goal for the first six minutes . Summit scored first with a goal by Maggie Groves assisted by Caroline Peck. In the second period Beacon Hill tied the score at 1-1, and then took  the lead just 12 seconds later  2-1 .Momentum had clearly shifted to Beacon Hill until Tara O’Malley tied the score at 2-2 with assists from Courtney Kern and Jennifer Caputo.The final 9 minutes was end to end action with both teams trying to score the go ahead goal. With 4 minutes left it briefly appeared that Beacon Hill had scored, however , goalie Tory Round got just enough of the puck to make the save , no goal. The waning minutes of the game saw both goalies make miraculous saves to end the game in a tie. Both teams had 25 shots , Tory Round had 23 saves.
Sat 02/02 Away Lawrenceville

Won 6-0  Summit traveled to Lawrenceville for its 2nd victory..  Summit controlled the game from the opening face-off. Tara O’Malley opened the scoring with an assist from Maggie Groves. Maggie Groves put Summit up 2-0 with assists from Courtney Kern  and Tara O’Malley. Summit defenders Caroline Peck ,Gina Stelutto  and Freshmen Lindsey Galinek  helped hold Lawrenceville to only 3 first period shots. Tara O’Malley then scored her second goal with an assist from Maggie Groves to give Summit a 3-0 lead. In  the second period  Jenny Caputo scored  with assists from Claire O’Malley and Crissy Ost, 4-0.  More Summit pressure resulted in a goal for Courtney Kern , assisted by Tara O’Malley to make it 5-0. Claire O’Malley then took the puck from her own end and out skated the Lawrenceville defense  for an uncontested breakaway goal to make it 6-0 Summit. Summit out shot Lawrenceville 34-10 , Tory Round had her first shutout of the season.

Mon 02.04 Away Essex Hunt
Lost 5-2. Essex Hunt scored two first period goal via some nifty passing and skating .In the second period Molly Groves connected with and assist from Claire O’Malley 2-1. It was one of the most physical games of the season, Caroline Peck, Nancy Troy and Caroline Hurckes  worked hard to control the puck for Summit. The game was up for grabs in the third period until Essex scored to take a 3-1 lead. Goalie Tory Round was under tremendous pressure throughout the period , although making good on the initial shots multiple rebounds ultimately proved to be too much as Essex scored two late goals for a 5-2 final. Essex out shot Summit 41-23. Tory Round had 36 saves.

Mon 02/11 Away Princeton
Lost 3-2 In the first period Summit came out flat and found themselves down 2-0 after the first period. In the second period Summit came alive clearly outplaying Princeton and out shooting them 16-6 in the period. Caroline Peck scored with  assists from Courtney Kern and Tara O’Malley 2-1. In the third period Summit gave up an early goal for a 3-1 Princeton lead.  Jen Caputo then flicked a wrist shot into the upper right hand corner of the goal to cut the lead to 3-2 . The final seven minutes was some of Summit’s finest hockey all season controlling the puck throughout.Crissy Ost , Molly Groves and Lindsey Gallinek were all over the ice for Summit, Trailing in the final minute Summit opted for an extra skater and it almost paid off as Courtney Kern’s backhand shot crossed the goal just a second after the final horn went off to preserve the win for Princeton. Summit out shot Princeton 34-19 Tory Round had 16 saves.
