Through six innings this game, under the lights at the high school, represented some very good baseball. However, Chatham, up 3-1, clearly held the best hand going into the 7th inning. Kenny Miller had pitched a fine game allowing only 3 runs on 6 hits and striking out 8. Miller's pitch count was getting high (104) and after a lead off single in the 7th Eddie Hagan was brought on in relief. Unfortunately, Chatham came alive and scored 5 runs to put the game away.
Chatham's starter allowed only 1 run off 5 hits over the first 5 innings. His replacement mowed down the last 6 Summit batters without allowing a base runner. Summit's only run came in the 4th inning when Evan Chang delivered a one out single and was driven in by Tim Spangler.
